Building Division

The Building Division issues building permits and takes in plans for review. Our field inspectors verify compliance with various codes and ordinances in both residential and commercial structures. The Building Division is responsible for enforcing the California Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electric, Residential, and Energy Codes. The Division is also responsible for monitoring construction activity and determining that ongoing construction projects have the required permits and conform to approved plans and conditions.

Permit Center Hours

The Building Division staff is available at the Community Development public service counter during office hours, Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 4:30 pm, except Thursday mornings, when we open at 9 am.

The City of San Bruno is excited to announce enhancements to MyGovernmentOnline (MGO), our Online Permitting system.  MyGovernmentOnline's customer portal (MGO Connect) allows users to apply for permits, track the status of an application, as well as submit and receive documents and information from the City.  Visit our Online Permits page for more information, and instructions on how to create your account.
