Water Conservation
San Bruno offers many resources for residents and businesses to conserve water during this prolonged California Drought.  Please visit the water conservation page for tips on how to conserve water, FREE water saving products, water saving rebate programs, and more!

Stormwater Pollution Prevention
San Bruno is an active partner with the County in efforts to reduce pollution in our storm drains.  Please visit the County’s Stormwater Pollution Prevention homepage to find out how you can help keep our storm drains clean and our Bay beautiful.

Household Hazardous Waste Events
San Mateo County offers Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) events every Saturday in various County cities.  Times and locations will vary.  Click here [external link to County Health website]  to see a temporary schedule for 2017 and view information on how to set up an appointment.

Recycling
The City sponsors events such as Clean Your Files Day (an Earth Day event to promote recycling of office paper), Operation Clean Sweep (the City's annual litter clean-up event), and Coats for Kids (a reuse program for winter clothes).  In addition, the City works closely with the City’s franchised garbage and recycling hauler*, Recology San Bruno and the County of San Mateo's recycling and hazardous waste programs.

Recology also has information on how you can comply with recent State Assembly Bills for Mandatory Commercial Recycling (AB 341) and Mandatory Organics Recycling (AB 1826).

Recology San Bruno offers many recycling and pick-up programs in San Bruno.  Learn more about Residential Recycling and Mandatory Commercial Recycling, including outreach/classes and community events!

Single Use Plastic Bag Ban
Effective April 22, 2013, the San Bruno Reusable Bag Ordinance launched, requiring that retailers no longer provide customers with single-use plastic carry-out bags.
