- Police Explorer
(Volunteer opportunity for ages 14 to 20 years old)
The San Bruno Police Department is actively accepting applications for the San Bruno Police Explorer Program (Post #559).
The Explorer Program offers an opportunity for students between the ages of 14 and 20 years old to become involved in a rewarding and productive public safety and community service activity and prepares youth for future roles as good citizens and contributing community members.
The City of San Bruno strives to prepare people interested in law enforcement professions in attaining their future career goals. No experience is necessary to become an Explorer, aside from the desire and willingness to learn about a career in law enforcement.
Explorers will attend an explorer academy where students learn numerous law enforcement techniques such as fingerprinting, investigations, search and rescue, and first aid. Explorer applicants must also be enrolled in high school or college, maintain a 2.0 Grade Point Average, be willing and able to volunteer time to the police department on a monthly basis, obtain parental consent if under the age of 18, be free of criminal convictions, and pass a basic background investigation.
